Program Info: Following multiple sold-out dates at Pavilion Theatre, acclaimed Dublin ensemble Glasshouse are proud to perform their new arrangement of the work of renowned composer and music pioneer Ryuichi Sakamoto. The concert will honour the incredible and widely lauded work of Sakamoto, who sadly passed away in 2023. We are pleased to have the blessing of Sakamoto’s team for this tribute.
Renowned Japanese composer and producer Ryuichi Sakamoto was admired for his electronic music experimentation. He formed Yellow Magic Orchestra in 1978 and released eight studio albums with the group. He starred in the film Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence with David Bowie in 1983. His film score for The Last Emperor, in 1987, won him an Oscar, a Grammy and a Golden Globe. He continued to work throughout his life, releasing an album in January 2023, just two months before his passing.
