Grafenegg Festival: Really Big Cinema
Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich conducted by Frank Strobel - Wolkenturm
Program Info: Tonkunstler Orchestra Lower Austria Frank Strobel, conductor Stathis Karapanos, flute
Summer Sounds 2025 begin with an homage to one of the greatest film composers of all time: Ennio Morricone. His scores always managed to outdo the films for which they were originally written, and more than once the music was already in place before the film was even shot. Directors like Sergio Leone built their scenes around the music that Morricone had conceived for the stories he was given. Just as there’s a particular Morricone sound, the music of John Williams or other greats of the craft can be immediately recognised: their compositions have decisively shaped the history of cinema. Frank Strobel, one of the most important connoisseurs of film music today, leads the Tonkunstler Orchestra.
