Back to the Future - In Concert
City Light Symphony Orchestra - KKL Luzern Concert Hall

Program Info:
Alan Silvestri - Back to the Future

In 1985, the crazy, white-haired professor Dr. Emmett Brown and his assistant Marty McFly set out on a rapid journey through time. The action comedy "Back to the Future" was a huge success and opened all doors in Hollywood for director Robert Zemeckis. Now the cult film with the powerful film music by Alan Silvestri can finally be heard again in the KKL Lucerne.

"Back to the Future" tells the story of schoolboy Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox), who accidentally travels back in time to the year 1955 and changes his parents' past. Marty must now try to restore the original past and return to 1985. "Back to the Future" achieved cult status thanks to the original time machine in the form of a converted DeLorean DMC-12 sports car. In 2007, the film was added to the National Film Registry.

Director Robert Zemeckis remembers a conversation with composer Alan Silvestri on the set of «Back to the Future»: "Powerful, powerful - with these words I explained to Alan how I imagined the film music. I said, 'Alan, elevate the film!'" Zemeckis confidently sent the young, up-and-coming composer off to work on the composition, and Silvestri not only created a film music classic par excellence, but also immediately established himself as a new voice in action cinema, which has since caused a sensation with lots of brass and percussion.

Experience "Back to the Future" in its new splendor for the 40th anniversary and embark on another turbulent journey through time in the legendary DeLorean DMC-12 with the City Light Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Kevin Griffiths.
