Silent film – The Gold Rush
Orchestra - Küchlin Varité Theater, Saal1
Program Info: Director: Charlie Chaplin, 95 Min. OmdU (English intertexts, German subtitles) Music: Charlie Chaplin
The silent film was anything but silent - its performances were accompanied by lively sounds and transformed into thrilling concert experiences. What was most impressive then, as now, was the magic of an entire orchestra.
This art was also celebrated in the Küchlin Varieté Theater. Karl Küchlin, an enthusiastic film visionary, brought together variety acts and film screenings early on. In the 1920s, this gave rise to unique cinema evenings. We want to revive this tradition – timeless and unforgettable.
THE GOLD RUSH is one of Charlie Chaplin's five great films and is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. As in all of his films, Chaplin not only played the leading role of the tramp, wrote the script and directed it with perfection, the film music was also his composition.
