13 December 2024 Parma (Italy)
Nicola Piovani conducts the Orchestra del Mare
Orchestra del Mare conducted by Nicola Piovani - Teatro Regio di Parma
Program Info: Humanity, hope and rebirth: music, a universal language capable of acting as a bridge between people of the most varied social backgrounds and life experiences, will once again be the protagonist of the "Christmas Together" of the Cariparma Foundation, becoming the spokesperson for a call to the centrality of 'human being.
The traditional Christmas concert offered to the city by the Foundation returns on 13 December at 8.30 pm at the Teatro Regio in Parma with a proposal that celebrates the strength of the community, the importance of cohesion and aims to be a gift not only to the city, but also to those , every day, he fights to transform pain into melody.
The heart of "Christmas Together 24" is the cultural and knowledge project Metamorfosi of the Casa dello Spirito e delle Arti Foundation which, through a real path of regeneration - that of wood - encourages, especially the new generations, to focus on theme of hospitality, memory and human dignity through art and beauty. Thanks to the project, from 2021 the boats arriving at the Favaloro pier in Lampedusa are transformed into musical instruments in the lutheries of the Opera Prison in Milan, Secondigliano in Naples and other penitentiary institutions, becoming Orchestra del Mare. An authentic path of redemption for those fleeing wars and difficulties and for those, marked by the mistakes of the past, looking for a second opportunity.
On the day of Saint Lucia, words and music will merge in an evening in which every sound is intended to be a note of hope, starting from the narration of Lella Costa who, accompanied by the Piccola Orchestra dei Popoli , will introduce the event by leading the public into a journey among fishing boats destined to be scrapped and people fleeing from hunger and war. Oration , freely taken from Paolo Rumiz's text The memory of wood , will transport spectators to the sea from which those boats resurface which, expertly shaped by the hands of those who have been lost in the journey of life, see an opportunity for rebirth.
Instead, Maestro Nicola Piovani will animate the heart of the evening, taking to the podium to conduct the Parma Philharmonic and the violins, violas, cellos and Mediterranean instruments of the Orchestra del Mare . The orchestral formations will give voice to the instruments created in the prison lutheries in a program that includes two symphonic suites of music composed for the cinema by Piovani himself, Oscar winner in 1999 for the soundtrack of La Vita รจ Bella by Roberto Benigni, presented in in concert.
