Christmas concert
Bläserphilharmonie Thum conducted by Thomas Conrad - Eduard-von-Winterstein-Theater

Program Info:
Under the direction of Thomas Conrad, the Thum Wind Philharmonic presents the masterful work “Vasa” by José Suñer Oriola , which musically brings the dramatic story of the famous Swedish warship “Vasa” to life. Experience the threatening tilt and the majestic splendor of the ship in impressive sound images.

Another highlight is the solo piece “Celtic Flutes” by Kurt Gäble, in which the flute players Nicole Lerchenberger and Franziska Endler impress with virtuoso ease. The program is complemented by the rousing works “Terpsichorean Dances” and “Through an Open Door” , which take the audience into new musical worlds.

The work “The Holly and the Ivy – Fantasy on Christmas Carols” by Malcolm Arnold, performed under the direction of Robin Kürschner, spreads a special Christmas atmosphere and was personally rearranged by him especially for the Thum Bläserphilharmonie. Of course, traditional Christmas carols from the Ore Mountains should not be missing, to which the audience is warmly invited to sing along.

The Thum brass youth group, under their musical director Susanne Dettke, shows their skills with the “Renaissance Suite” by Tielman Susato. The three different movements take the listener sonically back to the Renaissance period. With “A Canadian Christmas” the young musicians take the audience with them to Canada. The world-famous piece “Carol of the Bells” concludes the brass youth program, before the Christmas classic “Winter Wonderland” is played together with the brass philharmonic orchestra.
