Film and music have always formed an inseparable duo. Even in the silent film era, live music often accompanied film screenings, enhancing the emotions and drama of the big-screen story. Today's film music was born in 1929 when technological advancements allowed for sound synchronisation with motion pictures.
Since then, it has become an integral part of cinema. Some film music composers, like John Williams or Hans Zimmer, have become globally recognised stars, and some of their pieces composed for the big screen have become so popular that they stand as hits in their own right. It is these film music hits that make up the programme of this concert.
In the programme: music from famous movies and series, among others: Star Wars, Inception, Pretty Woman, A Star is Born, Star Trek, House of Cards and James Bond series.
