Nicola Piovani “Side Notes”
Nicola Piovani - Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone, Sala Petrassi
Program Info: Nicola Piovani – Piano Marina Cesari – Sax Marco Loddo – Double bass Vittorino Naso – Percussion
"Marginal Notes" is a sort of autobiographical story, commissioned to Nicola Piovani by the Cannes Film Festival in 2003 (with the title "Leçon Concert"). It is a show in which Piovani shares with the audience experiences, memories and emotions of over forty years of career. In the wake of memories and anecdotes, the Maestro retraces some great encounters that marked his path, from Federico Fellini , remembered with affection for his little quirks and mastery as a director, from Taviani to Vincenzo Cerami and Roberto Benigni , with narrated episodes with lightness and sincerity. Life experiences between music, cinema and theater that Piovani recounts accompanying them with the notes of his piano, together with the saxophone and double bass. Telling stories in music helps to understand the meaning of Piovani 's story who underlined «I don't remember a single moment in my life in which there wasn't music».
