Kyle Eastwood Group
Kyle Eastwood Group - Stadtcasino Basel
Program Info: "Eastwood Symphonic" is bassist Kyle Eastwood's homage to his father Clint Eastwood, the actor, director and musician. It is less well known that Clint Eastwood wrote the music for some of his films himself and that his son Kyle assisted him with the composition and arrangements. In addition, themes from other Eastwood films by Lalo Schifrin, Ennio Morricone and John Williams can be heard.
»In the Eastwood family, music is a family affair. My father knows and loves music, especially jazz, and he passed on to me his passion for music and cinema. Over the course of his career and in recent years, he and I have composed the music for these films. The idea for Eastwood Symphonic was to reinterpret my father's greatest film scores with a mix of jazz and classical. This is a project that is very close to my heart. I can pay tribute to my father and his film scores, as well as many of the brilliant film composers who have contributed to his films over the years. I would like to dedicate this album to them and especially to my father, who showed me what dedication, commitment and joy in one's own work really is. Thanks, Dad, for the inspiration and all the decades of amazing cinema.”
The recording with the Kyle Eastwood Quintet and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Grammy-winning conductor Gast Waltzing will be released on CD and as a double LP.
Classical music meets jazz. The outstanding bassist Kyle Eastwood pays homage to the legendary works of his father Clint in this road movie concert. The film music for his works, often composed by Kyle Eastwood, is largely inspired by the masters of classical symphonic music. Legendary soundtracks from films such as “Gran Torino”, “The Bridges on the River”, “For a Fistful of Dollars”, “Letters from Iwo Jima” and “Two Glorious Scoundrels” were selected for this concert by Kyle Eastwood and re-orchestrated by guest Waltzing , who will conduct the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra.
Clint Eastwood continues to fascinate to this day. As a gifted director, he questions the myth of the American hero in crime novels, westerns and war films. Even at the age of 91, the jazz and country fan has inexhaustible energy and just recently produced his 39th film “Cry Macho”. Kyle Eastwood lives in Paris. He has released nine albums so far and played a large number of concerts on all continents with his quintet. His recording “In Transit” was rated four out of four stars by the American Downbeat magazine. With this concert, Eastwood continues the idea of combining film music with classical and jazz, which he first took up with the album “Cinematic” produced in 2019 and with which he was a guest at TAK in 2020. Together with the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra, a unique concert experience is created that reviews 45 years of film history.
Clint Eastwood himself is also present on stage behind the musicians on a large screen.
Conversations between him and his son round off the music and provide insights into the fascinating film and music worlds of two legends.
