During The Forbidden Picture Show we focus on these controversial themes and show films that were not allowed to see the light of day everywhere. For this first edition we focus on both hilarious and dramatic films about cocaine use:
In THE MYSTERY OF THE LEAPING FISH, Douglas Fairbanks plays the character Coke Ennyday, an enthusiastic detective who tries to save a woman in distress using all kinds of drugs and stunts. In the second film of the program, LASTER DER MENSCHHEIT, Asta Nielsen shows the tragic fate of a famous cocaine-addicted opera singer who tries to protect her daughter.
