Writer Pierre Loti was a true world traveler and incorporated everything he saw and experienced into his novels. Curator of silent film at the Eye Film Museum Elif Rongen – Kaynakçi has put together a wonderful compilation of the places Loti has been and what he has experienced from the rich collection she manages. We travel through Istanbul, West Africa and see Japanese culture from the beginning of the last century, while Elif tells the fascinating stories behind these films. This program is not only a wonderful stand-alone journey around the world, but also a perfect introduction to program 11: Pêcheur d'islande , based on a novel by Loti.
