Off to a new year, off to space! On New Year's Eve, the MDR Symphony Orchestra and MDR Broadcast Choir embark on a musical journey to the stars. In addition to Gustav Holst's "Planets" and Philip Glass' "The Voyage", the program also features film music that takes you into the infinite expanses of space: ET, the alien flies home musically and also fans of the sagas of "Star Wars" and "Star Trek" get their money's worth.
At the end of the anniversary year of the oldest radio ensemble, ARD is broadcasting the concert live in its first program.
