Schnittke, music from films Chancelli, Dixi Symphony
Cinematography Orchestra conducted by Sergey Skripka - Concert Hall Zaryadye
Program Info: Cinematography Orchestra Chapel of Russia named after A.A. Yurlov Conductor - Sergey Skripka
The first part of the evening is dedicated to the film music of Alfred Schnittke, which occupies an important part of the composer's legacy. He is the author of music for the films “Belorussky Station”, “Uncle Vanya”, “Crew” (1979), “Dead Souls” and many others.
The musical language of the Georgian composer Kancheli absorbed both classical traditions and archaic layers of Georgian sacred music. Gia Kancheli is the author of more than seventy opuses, music for plays and films. The music for “Mimino” and “Kin-dza-dza” brought great fame to the composer.
Symphonic music occupies a significant place in the composer’s work. On the stage of the Zaryadye Hall, one of Kancheli’s last works will be performed - a symphony for choir and orchestra Dixi, the Russian premiere of which took place in Moscow in 2010.
Dixi is Latin for “I said.” Kancheli's symphony tells the story of a man, his prayers, sorrows and joys.
