Philharmonic Concert
Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt conducted by Azis Sadikovic - Konzerthalle »Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach«
Program Info: Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt Azis Sadikovic, conductor Benjamin Schmid, violin
At this concert we take you into the dream world of the opera and the Hollywood dream factory. We play music from one of the most successful film composers and two music-dramatic geniuses. In none of his operas did Richard Wagner reduce the external action in favour of the description of mental life as radically as in “Tristan and Isolde”. Unlike in the medieval originals, Tristan does not fight with dragons and giants, but with his feelings. With the essence of this love composition, Wagner embraces the opera “Tristan and Isolde,” which begins with the orchestral prelude and ends heartbreakingly with Isolde’s “Liebestod.”
The love affairs that Richard Strauss describes in “Der Rosenkavalier” are much more earthly. This “comedy for music” that pays homage to the Viennese waltz is one of the most successful operas ever. Strauss created a suite that most charmingly transfers the charm of the opera into an orchestral version that makes you want to dance to it.
Erich Wolfgang Korngold's Violin Concerto in D major is also a masterpiece of secondary use. Korngold was the most successful composer in Hollywood in the 1930s and 40s and incorporated themes from his cinema hits in his Violin Concerto. The solo part is played by Benjamin Schmid, who was awarded the “OPUS KLASS IK”, the “ECHO KLASS IK” and the “German Record Prize”. His distinguished international career took him to the Vienna Philharmonic, the Philharmonia Orchestra London, the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich.
The Viennese Azis Sadikovic conducts. We have had a long-term collaboration with him. In recent years he has conducted, among other things, our opera guest performances in Rheinsberg and at the Bayreuth Festival, where we have provided the children's opera orchestra for many years.
