There is no better pastime than bickering about charts and top ten rankings. Pop music fans have the Top 2000, classical connoisseurs choose their Top 400 from NPO Klassiek. The votes have been counted and everyone is eagerly looking forward to the number 1, the notable climbers and the newcomers. The Radio Philharmonic Orchestra plays a generous selection from this wonderfully colourful mosaic of music.
The Classic Top 400 list offers endless fodder for discussion. In 2023, Bach's indestructible St. Matthew Passion stood proudly at the top, closely followed by Mozart's Requiem . Will Bach and Mozart maintain their permanent positions, or are there shifts at the top? It is not only baroque, classical and romantic that reigns supreme in the Top 400.
