Program Info: Brandenburg State Police Orchestra Christian Köhler, conductor Peter Llewys Preston, singer
Would you like something different for the New Year? Then the LPO’s New Year’s FILMGala is just right for you. Listen to a mix of international blockbusters, melodies from the UFA city of Babelsberg and national film productions from the UFA, DEFA and Bavaria studios.
Another highlight of the morning? The LPO soloist: PETER LEWYS PRESTON studied at the Bavarian Theater Academy in Munich and Shenandoah University in Virginia. He won the national singing competition twice in a row, received special prizes from the “Jugend Kultur” Foundation and the German Music Council, and was nominated for the German Musical Theater Prize as Best Actor. When developing new pieces, he breathed life into Frankenstein in FRANKENSTEIN and Wilhelm Grimm in JACOB & WILHELM, embodied Rachmaninoff in the German-language premiere of PRELUDES, Carl Bruner in GHOST - THE MUSICAL, and played leading roles in CASANOVA, HAIRSPRAY, MY FAIR LADY, LIEDE MURDER AND NOBILITY OBLIGATIONS and many more. He filmed, among other things, I AM! MARGOT FRIEDLÄNDER, TAUNUS KRIMI, LAIM, BLOODY BEGINNERS, THE BROTHERS GRIMM and the historical epic LOUIS VAN BEETHOVEN as Karl van Beethoven. In addition to his work as an actor, Peter works as a musician, composer and producer. In 2015 he released his debut album REACHING FOR HEAVEN. He was a guest at the LPO Brandenburg for the first time in 2024, and was so successful that he was immediately hired for the New Year's concert!
