With “Shrek 2,” we are presenting one of the most successful films from DreamWorks Animation Studios live in a concert hall for the first time.
The 2004 animated film was also a hit thanks to Hollywood stars such as Mike Myers (Shrek), Cameron Diaz (Fiona), Eddie Murphy (Donkey), Antonio Banderas (Puss in Boots), John Cleese (King Harold) and Julie Andrews (Queen Lillian), who lent their voices to the film.
The celebrated composer Harry Gregson-Williams was responsible for the playful film music. His beautiful themes from the first "Shrek" film meet here - in keeping with the crazy story and characters - jazz interjections, waltz sounds, funk grooves, Spanish guitar playing and "Mission: Impossible" homages. But epic action music is also provided thanks to the dragons and the devious "Muffin Man", while the enchanting theme for Princess Fiona opens up fairytale moments.
In Shrek 2, Shrek and Princess Fiona return from their honeymoon to find an invitation from Fiona's parents, the King and Queen of the Kingdom of Far, Far Away . This forces Shrek to face his biggest challenge yet: his in-laws!
However, Shrek and Fiona are unaware that their marriage has ruined the King's plans for his daughter's future and his own, so he must enlist the help of a powerful fairy godmother, the handsome Prince Charming, and the famous ogre-slayer, Puss in Boots, to restore his own version of Happily Ever After.
