Program Info: The sound of Hollywood moves and inspires – and has done so for decades. It all started with the colossal sound fantasy of one man: Erich Wolfgang Korngold. The exuberant, luxurious sound of his operas became legendary early on. After emigrating from Vienna to the USA, he started a second career with film music.
To kick off 2025, Joseph Trafton conducts excerpts from Captain Blood , The Adventures of Robin Hood and The Sea Hawk . Korngold's Violin Concerto is also on the program - a sophisticated and virtuoso ear-pleaser. With the solo part, concert master Shotaro Kageyama presents himself as a confident designer.
