Program Info: It is sometimes said that good film music should not stand out. The composers featured in the Greatest Film Music concerts have not followed this advice, and that's a good thing! On the program: a series of concerts dedicated to the cult music of the masterpieces of the 7 th art at the Auditorium de La Seine Musicale. Certainly composed for the screen, the original soundtracks are scores in their own right which can very well do without images, they give us the pleasure of remembering the images they accompanied, and even of guessing them. Ennio Morricone , or the art of composing the music of a film like its unconscious and giving it a premonitory aura. The Italian composer, inseparable from the most memorable successes of cinema, brings to films, thanks to his original soundtracks, an even deeper dramatic and psychological dimension. His most famous themes for the screen are brought together here in a concert commensurate with the dramatic palette that he infused into his orchestral works: violence, lyricism and romanticism so humanly intertwined. The compositions of Nino Rota enhance this concert dedicated to the greatest music of Italian cinema and the “Spaghetti Western” .
A journey to the heart of America, from the fantasised Great West, filmed by Sergio Leone ( Once Upon a Time in the West, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, A Fistful of Dollars… ), to the sacred South by Roland Joffé ( Mission ), from the family tragedy new world version of Francis Ford Coppola ( The Godfather ), to the Italy of the greatest masters that she saw born with Fellini ( Eight and a Half ), to the most Italian of French thrillers signed Henri Verneuil ( The Clan of the Sicilians ). These legendary scores are so inseparable from the images they adorn that we can enjoy them “natural”, just for the pleasure of the music.
