25 September 2024 Kaohsiung (Taiwan)
The Lonely Planet
Dreamphony Orchestra - National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts
Program Info: The main title of this concert is "Galaxy Suite" which is a series of songs about the stars in the universe composed by composer Yang Chen-Te when he was 17 years old. After being published by the Guitar Club of Zhong-zheng Senior High School that year, it quickly became the most popular song and has been sung for forty years. After dropping out, it became a must-learn repertoire for all students in the guitar club. Forty years later, during the creation of his Symphony No. 2, "The Lonely Planet", the 57-year-old composer Yang Chen-De had a dialogue across time and space with the ignorant 17-year-old teenager Yang Chen-De and transformed the "Galaxy Suite" into part of the melody motivation is integrated into this symphony, completing this symphony that transcends time and space. Our session also features selections from John Williams' iconic 'Star Wars' and Gustav Theodore Holst's evocative 'Planet Suite'. These compositions, known for their ability to stir emotions and transport listeners, will take you on a journey through the vastness of the universe. Join us as we dive into the galaxy, guided by the power of music.
