A special concert that brings to light the rich tapestries woven by black, female, and minority composers. Our program showcases a remarkable range of musical expressions, from the poignant melodies of George Gershwin's "Lullaby" to the intense drama of Bernard Herrmann's "Psycho Suite." We journey through the vibrant rhythms of Jessie Montgomery's "Strum" and the emotional depth of Amy Beach's "Piano Quintet, Op. 67." We also honour the historical significance and contemporary relevance of works like Jennifer Higdon's "Piano Trio" and Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson's "String Quartet No. 1 'Calvary'. " Each piece in our repertoire is a testament to the unique voices and stories that have shaped the landscape of classical music. Through this concert, we aim to not only entertain but also enlighten, celebrating the contributions of these visionary composers who have enriched our cultural heritage.
