Author of the unforgettable Kirikou trilogy, Michel Ocelot signs with Azur et Asmar (2006) a new animation masterpiece which marked an entire generation. Inspired by the Tales of the Thousand and One Nights, Azur and Asmar addresses social issues such as social inequalities and the discovery of foreign cultures through the story of two foster brothers - Azur the blond with blue eyes and Asmar the dark-haired black eyes - raised by the same woman in a green and flowery country. Brutally separated by life at the end of childhood, they will both be driven by the desire to find the Fairy of the Djinns and will embark on an epic rich in lessons which will bring the two brothers together. The original music by Gabriel Yared, specially rearranged by Robin Melchior for this format, will be performed by the Yellow Socks Orchestra, accompanied by Mohamed Najem on the Ney flute and Yousef Zayed on the Oud, in perfect synchronisation with the projection of the film on big screen. The opportunity to rediscover as a family this touching and action-packed story which is aimed at both young and old.
