“La Strada”, “Alexis Zorbas” – that is also great cinema for the ears. Love, hate, joy, jealousy, fear, greed, anger - primal feelings that were magnificently cast into sounds in the film music of the two grandmasters Nino Rota and Mikis Theodorakis. Beyond the film music, however, the majority of their works are largely unknown, including real highlights such as the Divertimento concertante by Nino Rota - a disguised double bass concerto - or the "Greek Dances" as the most popular creation by Schönberg's student Skalkottas.
