Program Info: The beauty of Native American culture
The Netherlands Wind Ensemble (NBE) delves deep into the heart of American music. Together with Native American singer Charly Lowry, musical phenomenon and descendant of the Tuscarora Indian Nation, the NBE searches for the beauty of Native American culture. 'We are the land' is the fundamental principle of that culture, where people feel one with nature.
The common thread throughout the program is the iconic film music Koyaanisqatsi by Philip Glass, adapted for the NBE. He was also looking for our roots and the film highlights the complex relationship between people, nature and technology. The two musical landscapes flow together like a meandering river, with live projections by the young visual artist Vincent Rang.
