The "Schellen-Ursli": As much as we love the children's book by Selina Chönz with the illustrations by Alois Carigiet - when viewed in light, isn't it a story about a somewhat irresponsible boy who, well, just wants to have the biggest bell? In Xavier Koller's film adaptation, the picture book story becomes part of a larger plot that also appeals to older children. The film is about friendship and family, about people and animals, about poverty and envy, about courage and responsibility. The main character also gets an equal counterpart in the film in the clever Seraina. This film is fantastically photographed, and two Hollywood Swiss guarantee good cinema: Oscar winner Xavier Koller (director) and Martin Tillman (music), who has already worked on many a blockbuster. Tillman's soundtrack is able to portray sadness and joy and wolves and avalanches. If you listen closely, you'll notice in one or two places that Martin Tillman is a cellist himself: When something happens deep in the main character's child's heart, a solo cello can be heard...
