The Iron Mask in concert
Chamber Orchestra - Auditorium National de Lyon, Grande salle

Program Info:
The latest swashbuckling film from Douglas Fairbanks (whose voice we hear on screen for the first time, in the film's prologue), The Iron Mask is a political fresco full of plots and betrayals. Enough to spur the inspiration of the Lyon collective Arfi, straddling jazz and experimental music, for this show of which the Auditorium has the premiere.

Filmed eight years after The Three Musketeers Fred Niblo's , The Iron Mask once again sees Douglas Fairbanks, one of the biggest stars of silent cinema, play d'Artagnan. The fourth musketeer, ageing, is charged by Richelieu with watching over the young dauphin, son of Louis XIII and Anne of Austria. But he is unaware that with Louis was born a twin, Philippe, kidnapped by the ambitious Count of Rochefort and raised in hatred of his brother. While Louis field of cinema-concert, a genre that the Lyon collective has largely contributed to developing and diversifying. A colourful ensemble of fifteen musicians takes on this great political fresco against a backdrop of plots and betrayals, which also questions our contemporary world.
