The star of the Moscow jazz scene, Marina Volkova, and the quartet of one of the best double bass players in Russia, Sergei Vasiliev, present an exclusive program, which will feature compositions from films loved by the whole world: “Some Like It Hot”, “The Mask”, “Dirty Dancing”, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” , as well as films by Woody Allen, a big fan of classical and jazz music.
The music of Hollywood, as the world Mecca of cinema, is a huge layer of world culture; films created between the 1920s and 1960s are recognized bestsellers; music from these films is still included in the repertoire of many jazz orchestras. However, cinema, being on the crest of fashion, has long “made friends” with new musical directions - funk, rhythm & blues, soul. The musicians of the project decided to show the listener how popular melodies from modern Hollywood films could sound in jazz arrangements, for example, the soundtrack to the movie “The Mask” if it was filmed in 1930!
