It was premiered in 1946 by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra in the Great Hall of the Konzerthaus, conducted by Hans Swarovski at the time. Today the new chief conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra takes on the task of arranging Strauss' ambiguous suite with all sorts of waltzes. Petr Polka also includes Josef Strauss's “Dynamides” waltz on the program, as well as Erich Wolfgang Korngold's voluptuous violin concerto, which will be interpreted by the French violin virtuoso Renaud Capuçon.
