The Snowman
Vantaan Pops Orchestra conducted by Nick Davies - Musiikkitalo Concert Hall
Program Info: Howard Blake - The Snowman
The film concert for the whole family will enchant again!
The popularity of the Snowman film concert is growing, and no wonder! The animation shown on the big screen, the accompaniment of a full-scale symphony orchestra and the dense atmosphere of a full auditorium offer a unique opportunity to descend into Christmas. So that everyone who wants to can enjoy the Christmas classic, there will be one more screening than last year. The schedules have also been prepared with the needs of families with children in mind.
The classic animation about the special friendship between a snowman and a little boy enchants again! The big screen, an engaging story, a live symphony orchestra and the dense atmosphere of a full auditorium take the rush and Christmas stress away. The theme song of the film, Walking in the Air, dives straight into the heart – and not least because of the wonderful interpretation of the young soloist.
The Snowman animated film is based on the children's book of the same name by the British Raymon Briggs, read and loved all over the world. The film premiered in 1982 and has been shown in the UK every Christmas since. Even in Finland, Snowman has been watched for more than 30 years.
Snowman is suitable for all ages and those who like a variety of music. It leads the audience into a cheerful and at the same time slightly wistful Christmas atmosphere. There is no dialogue in the book, and there is no need for it in the film either: the story progresses and holds its grip with the power of images and music.
After the hour-long Snowman, the audience can enjoy the eternally wonderful music of another wonderful Christmas night story, Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker ballet. This music has spoken to people not only from decade to century, but also from century to century!
The concert will be conducted by Nick Davies, chief conductor of the Vantaa Entertainment Orchestra.
