Home Alone – in Concert
City Light Symphony Orchestra conducted by Kevin Griffiths - KKL
Program Info: John Williams - Home Alone
Who doesn’t know “Home Alone” ?! Experience the comedy classic “Home Alone” with the film music by John Williams in new splendour at the KKL Lucerne.
With “Home Alone” director Chris Columbus had a surprise hit in 1990. Since then, the funny and heartwarming comedy about Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) has become an integral part of Christmas. The thematic film music and songs such as Somewhere in My Memory and Stars of Bethlehem by John Williams and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse make a substantial contribution to this. Williams creates irresistible holiday magic with celesta, glockenspiel, dancing strings, warm woodwinds and vocals, which the City Light Symphony Orchestra and the choir will celebrate during this year's Christmas at the KKL Lucerne.
At the centre of the action in “Home Alone” is the bright 8-year-old boy Kevin. He is the youngest member of the turbulent extended McCallister family, living in a suburb of Chicago.
When they all want to go on a Christmas vacation to Paris, Kevin is accidentally forgotten at home. However, Kevin doesn't want to let this ruin his Christmas when he's home alone. He enjoys the “storm-free place” and gets in the mood for Christmas. But he increasingly misses his family and he also has to find out that the burglar duo Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern) - also known as the wet bandits - are after his family's belongings. However, he wants to defend this decisively.
Let Kevin, the festive and action-packed film music by John Williams and the over 100 musicians of the City Light Symphony Orchestra and the choir get you in the mood for this year's Christmas. “Home Alone” is film-concert fun for the whole family!
