Top Gun: Maverick – in Concert
Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Ben Palmer - Meistersingerhalle
Program Info: Lorne Balfe, Harold Faltermeyer, Lady Gaga, and Hans Zimmer - Top Gun: Maverick
Tony Scott's 1986 film "Top Gun" reached breathtaking heights, not least thanks to the world-famous song "Take My Breath Away" and the soundtrack by Harold Faltermeyer. Even back then there was speculation about a sequel to the screen epic and its film music. The sequel “Top Gun: Maverick” by Joseph Kosinski only followed 36 years later and is considered one of the most successful films of all time with six Oscar nominations and one Oscar win.
“Is that even possible?” Tom Cruise, aka Lieutenant Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, answers this question confidently in 2022: “The answer lies solely with the captain in the cockpit.” Maverick, one of the Navy's best aviators, once again pushes the limits of what is possible, this time alongside the confident Natasha "Phoenix" Trace. Back at his old elite flying school “Top Gun”, he is supposed to prepare young pilots for a dangerous mission – and in doing so he meets the ghosts of his past.
Action-packed flight scenes and deep emotions are once again set to music by Harold Faltermeyer, supported by Oscar winners Hans Zimmer and Lady Gaga as well as Lorne Balfe as co-composers. Peppered with a breath of fresh air under the wings, the soundtrack continues the musical legacy of “Top Gun” from 1986.
