Hindemith sketched a series of movements on themes by Carl Maria von Weber for a ballet. While the collaboration fell through, Hindemith revised it into the Metamorphosis; a splashy, bombastic yet delicate work. Every instrument is showcased in this thematic play, as melodies escape from one and jump to the other.
