The journey towards Mordor continues: After “The Fellowship of the Ring”, “The Lord of the Rings” now returns to the Olympiahalle with the second part of the monumental film trilogy. With live musical accompaniment from the original soundtrack by Howard Shore, the audience in “The Two Towers” once again experiences the adventures of Frodo, Sam and his friends in the fight against the dark alliance around Sauron, Saruman & Co.
Like the books by JRR Tolkien, Peter Jackson's film epic also set new standards in the fantasy genre. Between 2002 and 2004, the three parts of “Lord of the Rings” won an incredible 17 Oscars. Most recently, the “In Concert Live to Film” series achieved great success around the world, including in April 2024 in the Olympiahalle: in the first part, “The Fellowship of the Ring,” in which the hobbits set off from the Shire to fight for the ring of power in the fire of Mount Doom to destroy. On April 4, 2025, the second round of “The Two Towers” will begin in the Olympiahalle. While Frodo and Sam move on towards the southeast with their new companion Gollum, Legolas, Aragorn and Gimli go in search of the kidnapped Merry and Pippin - before the epic battle in Helm's Deep against the majority of humorless orcs thanks to the arrival of Gandalf, Eomer and his riders take a happy turn...
To accompany the original version shown on the big screen, the Munich Symphony Orchestra will once again be playing the soundtrack by Oscar winner Howard Shore live. The orchestra is accompanied by the choir of the Technical University, the Wolfratshauser children's choir and great soloists.
