The Great Parade - Work for silent film and live sound
Carmen Baliero - Teatro Colón

Program Info:
Carmen Baliero - The Great Parade

Carmen Baliero, composer, pianist, performer, and one of the most important artists on the current Argentine scene, composes a work based on the live musicalization of the film “The Great Parade” by King Vidor (1925).

“The film tells a love story that emerged during the First World War. Vidor alternates fiction with documentary fragments. The musicalisation appeals to incidental music, leitmotifs and ambient sounds. Curiously, interpreting the music and sounds every time I project the film gives me a feeling of reunion and dialogue with the characters and the story much deeper than when I listen to my own music in a film. Meticulously knowing every gesture and reaction time that the actor decided on makes me believe that we are working as a team. A fiction that was insinuated in the compositional process and is completed when the music and the film are finalised.” Carmen Baliero
