Symphoniet Kraków (Sinfonietta Cracovia) conducted by Katarzyna Tomala-Jedynak - Cavatina Hall - Sala główna
Program Info: Symphoniet Kraków (Sinfonietta Cracovia) Katarzyna Tomala-Jedynak, conductor Alek Dębicz, piano
What do the author of the famous waltz from Trędowata and Philip Glass, the master of American minimalism, have in common? Both of them combined successes in the field of film music with excellent concert works, and both were influenced by the legendary Parisian teacher, Nadia Boulanger. They both also composed music for films based on the story of Count Dracula!
Kilar concert | Glass is a combination of the best of both composers' works: a clear vision, an original and recognizable style and memorable melodies associated with titles such as Dracula by Francis Ford Coppola or the Oscar-winning Hours . The concert program will include not only the most famous film themes (also from the films Portrait of a Lady and Trędowata ), but also Wojciech Kilar's lively Orava for strings and pieces with a leading piano role, including original compositions by the concert's soloist, Aleksander Dębicz.
Kilar | Glass is an original project of the Orchestra of the Royal Capital City of Krakow, Sinfonietta Cracovia, which has already been performed, among others, at the Film Music Festival in Krakow, at the Fimucité festival in Tenerife, and even in New York (where Philip Glass himself was present during last year's concert). Sinfonietta Cracovia will perform under the baton of its first conductor and artistic director, Katarzyna Tomala-Jedynak, presenting its full string sound in a repertoire combining new and film music.
