Crisp artworks, a universal message and brilliant songs by Hans Zimmer, Elton John and Tim Rice – these are just a few of the elements that make up „The Lion King” phenomenon. Disney's 1994 production is one of the biggest successes in the studio's more than 100-year history. The story of Simba – who, with the help of his newfound friends, must grow up and reclaim what is rightfully his – has earned recognition around the world. Now we want to remind it to adults and introduce the youngest to it for the first time. Thanks to audio description, the film will also be available to blind and visually impaired persons.
In composing the soundtrack, Hans Zimmer followed the best traditions of the musical – following the story of Simba, he created a colourful narrative. In doing so, he drew on East African culture, which can be heard especially in the rich rhythmic layer. Elton John's songs with lyrics by Tim Rice have also entered the canon of pop music. They are among the best in the rich oeuvre of the both English artists.
The iconic soundtrack will be performed by the Beethoven Academy Orchestra and two choirs: the Kraków Philharmonic and Pro Musica Mundi. One hundred and fifty experienced artists will perform under the baton of Erik Ochsner. The American of Finnish descent enjoys worldwide recognition as one of the leading conductors of film music.
