Program Info: Experience the incredible music of Hans Zimmer and others! Enjoy the best of the soundtracks from Top Gun, Dune, James Bond, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lion King, Gladiator, The Dark Knight, Mission Impossible II, Interstellar and many other blockbusters. This impressive concert features a film music orchestra, choir, famous soloists in a sequence of familiar scenes from films, alongside a light and laser projection show. The evening will be hosted by a special guest from the original productions.
No other composer has impacted the world of cinema in the past two decades as much as Oscar, Golden Globe and Emmy-winner Hans Zimmer. He gained renown for the music to Rain Man and ever since, he has infused countless Hollywood mega-hits with dramatic and emotional impact, leading to massive success. In 2018, Hans Zimmer received his eleventh Oscar nomination for the soundtrack to Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk.
The audience also hears stories about how German-born Hans Zimmer conveyed an anti-apartheid message in the lyrics to a song from The Lion King, and how his idol and role model Ennio Morricone inspired him. We also hear Morricone’s iconic music from films such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and Once Upon a Time in the West.
