Jozef van Wissem - St. Catherine's Church
Program Info: After more than two years, Jozef Van Wissem returns to Vilnius and most importantly - for a performance that has not been experienced before. The latest albums Behold! I Make All Things New" and "Nosferatu: The Call Of The Deathbird" presentation tour is crowned with the rendition of Fritz Lang's cult silent film "Destiny" (1921) in complete darkness with a lute, between St. Catherine's church vaults, by the black renaissance magician Jozef Van Wissem. December 17, Sunday.
"Destiny" is a German Expressionist silent fantasy romantic film directed by Fritz Lang, which is inspired by the Indian folk tale of Savitri. The film tells the story of a woman who longs to be reunited with her dead lover. The strip also follows three other tragic novels set in a Middle Eastern city; in Venice, Italy; and in the Chinese Empire.
Jozef van Wissem is an avant-garde composer and lutenist who plays a custom-made black baroque lute, the only one of its kind in the world. The titles and nature of his works have a Christian mystical meaning, and the music he creates is simply timeless. in 2013 van Wissem won Best Soundtrack at the Cannes Film Festival for Jim Jarmusch's Only Lovers Left Alive
