06 February 2024 Braunschweig (Germany)
Heavy Metal
Orchester der Technischen Universität Braunschweig conducted by Markus Lüdke - Audimax der Technischen Universität Braunschweig
Program Info: This time the focus of our concerts is one instrument - the tuba. Because of its dimensions it is always noticeable and is also an integral part of the orchestral line-up, but its role in the sound structure often remains rather diffuse. Responsible for the tonal depths, she is rarely entrusted with melodically memorable tasks. Reason enough to dispel prejudices and present the great instrument in all its splendour and diversity!
In addition to the solo concert, the tuba also plays a key role in all other pieces in the program. Of course in conjunction with the other brass instruments in the orchestra. But the strings, woodwinds and percussion also come into their own.
There are also two Hungarian-born composers to discover. We warmly invite you to let our joy of playing infect you!
Miklós Rózsa: Parade of the Charioteers aus "Ben Hur" (1959) Jorge Salgueiro: Tuba Concerto op. 139 (2006) Ernst von Dohnányi: 1st Symphony in D minor, Op. 9 (1900-01)
