Anime Symphony
São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Wagner Polistchuk - Sala São Paulo
Program Info: In 2005, inside an old projector in Kyoto, they discovered a fragment of what many believe to be the first Japanese animated film — three seconds showing a boy taking off his red hat and nodding his head, created sometime in the beginning of the 20th century. Time passed, the technique evolved, the relationship with manga remained close and in the early 1960s the genre we know today as anime emerged (one of the first was Astro Boy , from the legendary studio Mushi Productions). Films with characters with big eyes are an essential part of the culture of the “Land of the Rising Sun” and loved around the world.
In 2024, we pay tribute to the genre in this program: the “Anime Symphony”. On the Sala São Paulo stage, we will play the songs that inspired the search for the Dragon Balls in Dragon Ball Z ; the adventures of AshKetchum and Pikachu in Pokémon ; and Sakura's magical quest to capture her clow cards. The music created for Naruto , Knights of the Zodiac , One Piece and Shingeki no Kyojin will also be on the program, which also features a passionate sequence of original themes written by composer, conductor and pianist Joe Hisaishi, who has written more than 100 film scores. . are theirs The songs we hear in My Friend Totoro , The Animated Castle and Ponyo .
Maestro Wagner Polistchuk is conducting, who, over the last three seasons, has directed our celebrated programs with film and game soundtracks.
