Program Info: Film and music have been inseparable since the founding of the moving image. Although a live orchestra rarely plays in the cinema today, film music has become immortal. With well over 1,000 concerts and television appearances, the Babelsberg Film Orchestra can look back on a long and successful stage history. The performance locations include the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles, concerts in major Indian cities such as Mumbai, Calcutta, New Delhi with the music of Oscar winner AR Rahman and of course their legendary live film concerts in the Waldbühne and on the Gendarmenmarkt. With melodies for milestones in film history such as The Godfather , Pirates of the Caribbean , Jurassic Park , Indiana Jones , James Bond , Harry Potter and ET , to name just a few, the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg fills the Philharmonie with symphonic sound at the beginning of the year.
