Walton’s music for the 1945 film Henry V, directed by Laurence Olivier, is a tour de force and comes to life in the concert hall in Christopher Palmer’s 1988 adaptation, which incorporates music and text to great dramatic effect. The Orchestra is joined by All Creatures Great and Small actor Samuel West.
Shakespeare-inspired music by Mendelssohn and Dvořák completes this concert, timed to coincide with the great writer’s birth and death dates.
