28 July 2024 Ingolstadt (Germany)
Open Air 2 "The Gold Rush"
Georgisches Kammerorchester Ingolstadt conducted by Ariel Zuckermann - Turm Baur
Program Info: Charles Chaplin - The Goldrush
Act and appearance, reality and dream, action and poetry: With the silent film "Gold Rush" in 1924, Charlie Chaplin became world famous almost overnight. Unforgettable is the scene in which he devours a shoe as a starving gold miner. The background is deeply tragic. Alaska in 1898: staked out by gold fever, the vagabond Charlie is looking for his luck. What follows are countless disappointments, dangers and hardships. Charlie also has to assert himself against the rough manners of the other gold diggers. His unswerving adherence to hope and his unshakeable belief in goodness are rewarded in the end: not only in the form of gold, but also in the form of a beautiful singer. A triumph of love. The music is no less effective: it is played live by the GKO. An intoxicating feast for the senses!
