Galactic Sounds
Heilbronner Sinfonie Orchester conducted by Alois Seidlmeier - Konzert- und Kongresszentrum Harmonie Heilbronn, Theodor-Heuss-Saal
Program Info: What a spectacular season finale! In his rousing orchestral suite, the British composer Gustav Holst takes us to the limits of our solar system and finds an overwhelming musical representation for each of our seven neighbouring planets. It is an epic astronomical, astrological and mythical journey that takes us from Mars, the bringer of war, to Neptune, the mystical, where at the end the music seems to dissolve into stardust in spherical colours. The sounds that Holst elicits from his huge late-Romantic orchestra have repeatedly impressed and influenced subsequent generations of composers.
One who has never hidden his admiration for Holst's "Planets" suite was John Williams, and his perhaps even better-known space music, which he wrote for the film "Star Wars", complements our galactic program in a no less spectacular way and way. Join us on our journey to the limits of our solar system and beyond!
