Charlie Chaplin The Gold Rush
Sebastian Heindl, organ - Town Hall
Program Info: Silent Movie Special: Charlie Chaplin’s The Gold Rush (1925)
Virtuoso organist Sebastian Heindl treads in mighty footsteps: he’s a former chorister at the famous St Thomas’s Boys’ Choir, Leipzig, where J S Bach was director of music, and he returned there recently to conduct Bach cantata services. Already with numerous prestigious competition wins, alongside tours across Europe and the US, and a lively social media profile that reaches a wide audience, Germany’s Die Zeit newspaper was prompted to call him “a miracle musician from Leipzig”.
Sebastian Heindl is especially known for his own transcriptions, and as an improviser and composer where he combines elements of modern jazz and classical music in a highly individual style. He’ll undoubtedly be in his element improvising a soundtrack to Charlie Chaplin’s classic silent comedy ‘The Gold Rush’.
ECHO artist nominated by Konzerthaus Dortmund and Festspielhaus Baden-Baden
