Ennio Morricone created the appropriate music for around 500 films ... An impressive number! The film genre of the Italo Western was particularly close to his heart because he wrote the music for 30 such films.
Morricone was often nominated for an Oscar with his creative music, he received it twice: in 2007 for his life's work and in 2016 for the music for the film The Hateful Eight.
The famous Morricone style
They were friends since school: Morricone and the famous film director Sergio Leone. In 1964 they both started the well-known and successful collaboration. Above all, this includes the film classics: for a handful of dollars, two glorious villains and play me the song of death. Morricone's compositions were new and innovative and had an unusual sound element (jaw harps, whistles, screams, howling coyotes, owl calls, bells, music boxes, whip bangs, blows on the anvil etc.) Some of his compositions even found their way into the pop charts!
