Münchner Symphoniker conducted by Nodoka Okisawa - Prinzregententheater
Three composers whose breathtakingly diverse work takes place between revue theatre, Broadway, film, opera and the concert hall. Jacques Ibert is one of the most important French composers between the world wars, his music more colourful than almost any other. "Divertissement" garnishes frivolities from light music with classic catchy tunes - that could have been created for a music hall. Erich Wolfgang Korngold, a precocious child prodigy in the old world, left Vienna for Hollywood in 1934. In addition to film scores, he also wrote "serious" works there, such as the violin concerto for Jascha Heifetz. When you think of Kurt Weill, Mackie Messer and The Threepenny Opera come to mind. But Weill had already written a first symphony in 1921 and, after he had to leave Germany in 1933, a second one in Paris in 1934. And what a! Felt melodies, melancholy, cabaret nostalgia, anger, sadness - all this and more triggers an intense listening experience.
Jacques Ibert: Divertissement Erich Wolfgang: Korngold Violinkonzert D-Dur op. 35, the concerto has themes from the scores for the movies ANOTHER DAWN (1937), ANTHONY ADVERSE (1936) & THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER (1937) Kurt Weill: Symphonie Nr. 2
