Charlie Chaplin : Le Kid ciné-concert
Orchestre National Montpellier Occitanie conducted by Gwennolé Rufet - Opéra Comédie
Program Info: Charles Chaplin : The Kid
Black and white silent film by Charlie Chaplin (1921). Music by Charlie Chaplin, restored and adapted for the concert by Timothy Brock.
A destitute mother is forced to abandon her young child in a luxury car. Two thugs steal the latter, before parting with it a few streets away. Charlot, a poor glazier who was passing by, discovers the child, tries to get rid of him, but becomes attached to him. He is not at the end of his troubles… Chaplin's first feature film, which he produces, writes, directs and performs, The Kid is undoubtedly the British director's most personal film. The overwhelming music composed by Chaplin himself will be performed by the musicians of the Orchestra conducted by Gwennolé Rufet.
