Harold Lloyd in Girl Shy in concert
Nürnberger Symphoniker conducted by Robert Israel - Musiksaal in der Kongresshalle
Program Info: Robert Israel - Girl Shy
Alongside Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, he was the greatest comedian in US silent film: Harold Lloyd, actor, director, producer. His prime role was the well-groomed, nice young gentleman in search of success and happiness. In Girl Shy he plays a tailor, so shy that he starts stuttering at every woman who comes into the shop. Nevertheless, he writes a book about the secrets of love, even finds a publisher and the woman of his life. The craziest things happen until the happy ending... Girl Shy from 1924 is a silent film love comedy that is as poetic as it is turbulent. The highlight is the final chase - one of the longest and most spectacular in the entire history of film: breathtakingly exciting, full of surprising gags and breakneck acrobatics. Simply sensational! You have to see and hear that! Because the soundtrack was congenially re-composed in 2002 by one of the best in his field: Robert Israel from Los Angeles, silent film accompanist, pianist and composer, who also conducts with us.
