Program Info: The music of Alexandre Desplat helped dozens of famous films, from blockbusters to festival hits, find their way to the heart of the viewer. The maestro's track record includes soundtracks for more than a hundred films.
Incredibly prolific and versatile, Alexandre Desplat has worked in absolutely every genre of the film industry. Among his awards are the Oscar for the music for the films The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) and The Shape of Water (2017), the Golden Globe for the music for the drama The Painted Veil (2007), the Cesar Award ( Rust and Bone", 2013), two Grammy statuettes ("The Grand Budapest Hotel" and "The King's Speech!") and others. Guillermo del Toro, Wes Anderson, David Fincher, Jacques Audiard, Roman Polanski and other outstanding directors convince producers : "Only this Frenchman should write the music for the film!". In 2014, Alexandre Desplat was honored to head the jury of the 71st Venice International Film Festival.
